Why FRÉ?
I opted to try FRÉ for three reasons: they’re cruelty free (and vegan and use natural ingredients); I’m oily and I work out!
The bonus: FRÉ gives back - but we’ll get to this in a sec!
When I realised that this skincare line was specifically made for skin which is often covered in a sweaty post-workout (or not) sheen, I had to try it. It was as simple as that. I thought to myself if the 123FRÉ routine is good enough for sports then it’ll be perfect for those days I need a good scrub post-workout or on those days I feel my skin needs a pick-me-up.
I’m currently using what is called the Brighten Set, made up of: Cleanser, Serum and Eye Cream; and the Detox Me face scrub. I chose the Brighten Set because I wanted products I could use as part of my morning routine to keep my skin fresh for the whole day. I also use the eye cream as part of my night routine as I do tend to spend a lot of time in front of a screen or reading - and it has really helped with those dark circles. So I really love this product cause those circles were starting to bother me. If you’re using the eye cream in the morning I’ve found it best to use right after you’ve cleansed, let it set and then apply the serum.
Now, something about the cleanser and serum. The cleanser is super smooth and lovely because of the fine light blue grains, the jojoba beads which exfoliate gently. I feel that it not only cleanses but also purifies gently, it feels simply refreshing.
Only a pea-size amount of serum need be applied each time to really give skin a glowing feel. I think there’s the right balance of oiliness and density to this serum, and you’ll easily figure out how much you need depending on your own skin and the day too. I thought that a serum to start the day would be too much, but I really like the feel of starting the day refreshed - and it sits well under light makeup too.
I’ve realised that they have all helped with those small breakouts because of excess oil and/or sweat, and using the scrub at least once a week really helps from letting my pores get clogged. All the products are actually for all skin types which is good to note and what I’ve written is based on me using the products morning and night for the past 3 months.
So if you workout regularly, and you want to try something natural I’d definitely go for FRÉ!
Sustainability & Ethics
Lately I’m looking to use daily products which are sustainable and ethical.
By sustainable I mean that they are made up of natural products and these products are not over-grown. For them to be sustainable they also have to be chemical free - because why do we need any more chemicals going into our bodies?!
They need to be ethical for me because I can’t stand the idea that animals are used in tests for cosmetic products - that’s quite pointless and arrogant, in my opinion. So if I don’t want to endorse that, I need to find and use these types of products.
Now, what did I mean when I said that FRÉ gives back? They plant an argan tree for every set bought in an endangered argan forest in Morocco.
My favourite FRÉ products so far
If I had to pick it would be the Detox scrub and the Brighten Eye cream. They’ve become my go-to products, although I use the cleanser everyday I think I look forward to pampering myself with face scrub/mask-time. And besides after a good sweaty workout that’s something to look forward to to make your skin feel as good as you do!
What’s next?
Now that I’m super happy with the basics I think I just might try something new. They have so many delicious products that I’m really not sure what to pick.
Their beautiful ‘I Am’, ‘Refresh’, ‘Body’ and ‘Night Pamper’ collections are all great so it’ll probably be one of those. They might also work really well as gifts, that’s an idea!
What would you go for?
On a final note, I just wanted to say that I don’t really believe in promoting these things as a need, they are a want. So you don’t need any product to make you feel better or make you anything other than beautiful. I can honestly say that I treat myself when I want to buy something new, so that’s my treat to myself - and since you only have to buy such cosmetics every 3-4 months (because they last!), why not?! This is my treat to myself, to remember that I have to face the world everyday in my skin and maybe at the start and end of the day it’s nice to give something back and be grateful for the skin you’re in - even if that skin passed you through some agonising acne-years! I share this for all those who perhaps don’t need to wait and try all the products that don’t work - we finally have natural products to try instead of medically/chemically loaded creams and cleansers.
